Well it appears that the recently launched trade organisation BAPIA (Balloon And Party Industry Alliance) has certainly made an impact in the industry.  It seems that the new organisation has ruffled some feathers with frantic telephone calls being made and e-mails being sent.

John Bowler the man behind BAPIA says:

“Thank goodness we live in a democratic society, a place where we have the opportunity to choose freely, to select products, goods and services from whoever we want.

I do not believe in public denigration and therefore will not attempt to reply or respond to recent accusations, but I am available to answer any questions if people want to contact me.  I am sure that those companies also referred to would be happy to clarify the facts and their position.  That said, I would however like to take this opportunity to clarify the aims and objectives of the Balloon & Party Industry Alliance (BAPIA).

BAPIA is a privately run organisation, created with the sole aim of growing, supporting and representing the balloon and party industry.

Why a private company? Having been a dedicated volunteer of an association committee for 8 years I have witnessed first-hand how difficult it is to make ‘things’ happen, it is certainly not for the lack of enthusiasm on the part of committee members, on the contrary, committee members can and have given exceptional amounts of personal time and dedication to ensure tasks are undertaken, however, with all voluntary organisations and committees, time is a valuable commodity and running one’s own business and personal commitments rightly come first.

There are many benefits for an organisation such as this being privately run, but it also requires significant financial and personal investment which I am committed to giving.  Sadly there are those who will only perceive that it is purely for personal gain, I believe that the majority will see the true and long lasting benefits and will understand that in order for this to be successful, it has to achieve its aims and objectives and give the members and the industry what it wants.”

A clearly passionate and dedicated John goes on to say:

“There is a saying ‘No man is an island’, this organisation requires input and feedback from the industry. With the creation of two steering committees representing the retailer/ decorator and manufacturers all aspects of the industry can be addressed and projects implemented. It is paramount that all sectors are represented, with the input and support from each sector this organisation can fully represent our industry.

Apart from working to promote the industry and champion industry causes BAPIA also has many benefits to offer members. In addition to the liability insurances included as part of the membership we also include legal insurance with up to £100,000 cover and a 24/7 helpline.  The BAPIA fuelcard website is just being completed and there will be design downloads available exclusively to members very soon. “

We will also be offering a couple of free design downloads to every visitor to the site.
